Our Strategy
The challenges women face today
Women continue to be underrepresented across the technology sector, particularly in technical, leadership and decision-making roles. Many women face confidence gaps, limited access to role models and professional networks, and a lack of visibility of the breadth of careers available in technology.
At key transition points in education and early career decision-making, these barriers can narrow aspiration and influence the opportunities women feel able to pursue, even when they have the capability and interest to succeed.
“Women represent around 22% of the UK technology workforce, highlighting a persistent gender imbalance across technical roles.”
“A lack of authentic role models is widely recognised as a barrier to inclusion in tech, with industry research highlighting the persistent absence of visible role models for women in the sector.”
“Women face ongoing challenges with confidence, belonging and progression, with many reporting that culture, advancement barriers and support gaps contribute to retention issues in tech workplaces.”
