The challenges women face today

Women continue to be underrepresented across the technology sector, particularly in technical, leadership and decision-making roles. Many women face confidence gaps, limited access to role models and professional networks, and a lack of visibility of the breadth of careers available in technology.

At key transition points in education and early career decision-making, these barriers can narrow aspiration and influence the opportunities women feel able to pursue, even when they have the capability and interest to succeed.

Women represent around 22% of the UK technology workforce, highlighting a persistent gender imbalance across technical roles.
